Big name brands like Patek Philippe, A. Lange & Söhne, IWC Schaffhausen, Cartier, H Moser & Cie, etc. have auctioned off watches for big money in support of their favorite children’s charities. At Only Watch charity auction, a charity that raises funds for research into Duchene muscular dystrophy, a one-of-a-kind Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010 with salmon dial auctioned for CHF 31 million. That beat the previous record for most expensive watch ever sold, a 2014 Graves Supercomplication that went for $24 million. That one watch essentially doubled the total funds raised to date for Only Watch.

A. Lange & Söhne auctioned a watch for CHF 700,000 at Children Action – a foundation with initiatives for underprivileged children to get access to medical treatment, cancer care, better nutrition and more. IWC has been working with Fondation Antoine de Saint-Exupery and routinely creates a special edition pilot’s watches to auction off in support of children’s schools, libraries, and more in places like Cambodia and Thailand. These big name watch manufacturers know that their craft can bring help to a lot of deserving people across the globe, and that by offering just one watch will benefit millions of children from the money raised. And that’s no small thing.
